BYD Partners with DiDi’s Brazilian Ride-hailing Platform 99

On July 7th, BYD‘s official Weibo account announced that BYD’s Brazilian subsidiary has recently partnered with 99, a Brazilian ride-hailing platform under Didi. Through a leasing agreement, 300 units of BYD D1 pure electric vehicles will be provided to drivers on the 99 platform. Both parties aim to bring modern, sustainable, and zero-emission transportation options to the local area.

As a global leader in new energy vehicles, BYD hopes to bring the successful model from Shenzhen, China to Brazil. The collaboration between BYD and the 99 platform will effectively increase the popularity of electric vehicles locally and promote sustainable development of urban transportation.

Thiago Hipolito, the Innovation Director and Head of DriverLAB at 99 Company stated: “The collaboration between BYD and the 99 platforms will further drive urban transportation towards technological advancement, intelligence, and sustainable development. With the BYD D1 model, we strive to transform São Paulo into a hub for new energy vehicles in Brazil. Additionally, based on our cooperation experience in China, we can find more effective solutions for drivers, passengers, and the overall industry in practical operation.”

BYD has been making continuous moves in Brazil recently. On July 4th, local time, BYD and the government of Bahia state in Brazil jointly announced that they will establish a large production base complex consisting of three factories in the city of Camaçari. The total investment amount will reach 3 billion Brazilian reais (about $630 million ), which will further promote BYD’s globalization process.
