CAMAÇARI, Brazil – BYD marked a significant global expansion milestone with its 14 millionth new energy vehicle (NEV) produced at its Brazilian passenger car facility on October 9.

The ceremony was attended by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, China's Ambassador to Brazil Zhu Qingqiao, Bahia Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues, and BYD Chairman and President Wang Chuanfu.

This achievement makes BYD the first automaker to reach this NEV production milestone. President Wang presented the 14 millionth vehicle, a Song Pro, to President Lula.

President Lula expressed pride in BYD's investment, stating the plant restores dignity to the local community. He praised the potential for creating "the most sophisticated vehicles," bringing glory to Bahia, China, and Brazil.

Wang Chuanfu thanked the Chinese and Brazilian governments, partners, and customers. "Having been in Brazil for over 11 years, BYD now has over 170,000 Brazilian vehicle owners and leads the local NEV market for the second consecutive year. We are a long-term partner here," he stated.

Ahead of COP30 in Belém, BYD will provide 30 custom NEVs for low-carbon transport. Post-event, these vehicles will be donated to local schools and institutions.

In a symbolic move, the road leading to the plant was renamed "BYD Road"—the third such naming overseas, following locations in the U.S. and Thailand, underscoring BYD's deepening global presence.
