BYD SUV Tang DM-p Opens for Pre-Sale, Starting From $43,761
Leading Chinese automaker BYD’s flagship SUV, the Tang DM-p, opened for pre-sale on Thursday night. The new model has three versions, with a pre-sale price range of 292,800 yuan – 332,800 yuan ($43,761 – $49,740). The three versions have the same cruising range and performance, with some differences in configuration.
The new car adopts the firm’s recognizable “Dragon Face” design language, similar to BYD’s Han DM-p model. The vehicle features a large air intake grille is decorated with scales. The Chinese character “Tang” logo has also been moved to the chrome-plated decorative strip. The front shape has also been adjusted, and the air guide grooves on both sides have larger openings to highlight the positioning of a high-performance SUV.
The side is highly similar to the new BYD Tang EV, and is equipped with low wind resistance rims. The tail still adopts blackened full-width LED taillights, and the tail tag is replaced with “DM-P.” An icon reading “4.3s” has been added, indicating that the car only needs 4.3 seconds to accelerate from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour.

In terms of the interior, the Tang DM-p continues the design of the new Tang EV, adopting gray color matching. The 15.6-inch adaptive rotary suspension center console is equipped with the latest DiLink 4.0 (5G) intelligent system, with the upgraded DiPilot intelligent driving assistance system, a new W-HUD (head-up display) and other configurations.
The Tang DM-p will be equipped with an 1.5 Ti engine and EHS E-Motive system. The maximum power of the engine is 102kW, the peak torque is 231Nm, and the maximum power of the front and rear motors is 160kW and 200kW respectively. The battery is equipped with a special ferrous lithium phosphate blade battery for hybrid vehicles, with a pure electric cruising range of 215km (NEDC).
After subsidies, these cars will cost 332,800 yuan for the 215km four-wheel drive flagship model, 312,800 yuan for the 215km four-wheel drive exclusive model, 292,800 yuan for the 215km four-wheel drive distinguished model, and 282,800 yuan for the Tang DM-i super hybrid 252km exclusive model.
