BYD Wins Major Electric Bus Order From Nobina Finland

On Wednesday, Chinese automobile and battery manufacturer BYD signed an order with Nobina, the largest public transport operator in Scandinavia, for 70 buses. This is the second electric bus order signed by BYD in Finland. The vehicles are planned to be put into operation on city routes in Helsinki, Finland in the summer of 2022.

According to BYD, the new order covers two models, including 42 BYD 13-meter pure electric buses and 28 15-meter ones. With the new iron-phosphate battery technology, the battery life of both models exceeds 400 kilometers under SORT (Standardised On-Road Test) conditions, and the battery life of the 15-meter model is as long as 450 kilometers.

In August this year, the largest pure electric bus fleet (119 in total) built by BYD for Nobina in Finland was put into operation as scheduled. Up to now, the fleet has driven safely for over 1 million kilometers.

Nobina is the largest and most experienced public transport operator in Scandinavia. Its concept of attaching great importance to environmental protection coincides with BYD’s green dream. The cooperation between BYD and Nobina began in 2015. After six years, BYD delivered over 300 pure electric buses to Nobina, covering more than 10 cities across Sweden, Norway and Finland.

According to BYD, at present, more than 600 of its pure electric buses are operating in Scandinavia, with a cumulative mileage of more than 30 million kilometers and a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions of more than 30,000 tons.
