BYD Yuan Plus EV Model Released in Colombia
BYD, a Shenzhen-based new energy vehicle giant that has been continuously entering new overseas markets lately, announced on October 20 that its Dynasty series SUV model, the Yuan Plus, has recently been launched in Colombia. The release adds another Latin American country for BYD, after entering Costa Rica, Uruguay and the Dominican Republic.

The Yuan Plus was designed by Wolfgang Josef Egger, the design director of BYD, adopting the firm’s Dragon Face 3.0 design language, with the interior design based on the concept of “sports and fitness.” The wind resistance coefficient of the vehicle is as low as 0.29, and the acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h is 7.3 seconds. In addition, the maximum battery life can reach 480 km under NEDC conditions, providing riders with a more convenient and comfortable urban commuting experience.
The launch conference was jointly held with the 10th anniversary celebration of Hola Colombia, a well-known local magazine. At the event site, a Yuan Plus model was decorated with roses in full bloom, which attracted the attention of the whole audience.
Since 2020, BYD has cooperated with local dealer Motorysa to sell BYD’s full range of new energy passenger cars in Colombia, including medium to large-sized luxury flagship sedan Han EV, luxury pure electric SUV Tang EV, and high-end plug-in hybrid models such as Qin Plus DM-i and Song Plus DM-i. So far, BYD has delivered nearly 3,000 new energy vehicles to Colombia.
In Colombia, BYD also continues to exert its strength in the field of commercial vehicles. In April this year, it delivered 406 pure electric buses in Bogota, Colombia. At present, a total of 1,048 BYD electric buses have been put into operation in Bogota.
BYD said it is estimated that by the end of 2022, BYD will deliver a total of 1,472 pure electric buses in Bogota, which will help reduce the local carbon dioxide emissions by more than 94,000 tons every year, which is equivalent to the carbon dioxide emissions generated by 42,000 private cars driving at the same time.
