BYD’s First Overseas SkyRail Delivers, Will Be Used on Line 17-Gold in Brazil
On April 28, the first SkyRail train of Line 17-Gold of the São Paulo Metro in Brazil was delivered at BYD Sichuan Guang’an Industrial Park.
It is reported that the train delivered this time is a medium-capacity, intelligent straddle-type monorail system customized by BYD for São Paulo, equipped with on-board passenger information system, intelligent monitoring system, and emergency intercom system. It is worth mentioning that this is the first monorail train sold overseas by BYD.
The SkyRail vehicles built by BYD for the line were rolled off the production line at BYD Sichuan Guang’an Industrial Park in March 2022. The SkyRail has a small turning radius to adapt to mature communities in city centers; it is equipped with a fully automatic unmanned driving system, providing more precise operational control.
In April 2020, the two parties officially signed a contract for the São Paulo Metro Line 17 project. According to the contract, BYD will serve as the overall system solution provider, providing a series of monorail electromechanical products including 14 sets of 5-car trains, switches, power rails, UTO-level signal systems, central control systems, engineering vehicles, car wash machines and other technical services such as engineering integration, installation, commissioning and training for São Paulo Metro Line 17.
