BYD’s Li Yunfei Responds to Intensive Inspections of the Construction Contractor at the Brazil Factory
On December 26th, Li Yunfei, the General Manager of Brand and Public Relations Department of BYD Group, posted a message at noon saying: “If you want to accuse someone falsely, there is no lack of pretext! In matters related to smearing Chinese brands, smearing China itself, and attempting to undermine China-Pakistan friendship, we have seen how overseas forces maliciously associate and deliberately smear them. Some domestic self-media outlets collude with them. I believe everyone’s eyes are sharp!”
Background of the incident: One of the subcontractors for the construction of BYD’s factory in Brazil, Kim Carpenter Construction’s Brazilian branch, issued a statement stating that they have been subjected to frequent and intensive inspections by the local labor department in Brazil recently. Due to cultural differences, their interrogative inquiries combined with language translation errors have led to many inaccuracies in the information released by the labor department, especially regarding statements that Jinshang’s employees were ‘enslaved’ and ‘rescued,’ which are completely untrue.
