ByteDance officials stated that they are exploring mobile-based large-scale software solutions to provide for reference by smartphone manufacturers.
Recently, there have been reports that ByteDance secretly launched an AI smartphone development project two months ago. The core team of this project is mainly composed of two parts: one part comes from the Smartisan smartphone development team acquired by ByteDance in 2019, and the other part comes from the PICO VR development team acquired in 2021.
ByteDance officials stated that they are actually exploring mobile-based large-scale software solutions to provide for reference by smartphone manufacturers. There is currently no plan to produce and sell their own smartphones.
