CATL and Yutong Group Sign Ten-Year Strategic Cooperation Agreement
Chinese battery giant Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) signed a ten-year strategic cooperation framework agreement with Yutong Group on August 9.
According to the agreement, the two sides will make use of their respective advantages to improve the linkage level between supply and demand, and create efficient collaborative competitive synergistic advantages. They will share advantageous resources in the fields of commercial vehicles such as buses, heavy trucks, light trucks, construction machinery and sanitation vehicles. In addition, they plan to work together to promote the innovative development and application of new materials, new systems and new technologies, and jointly formulate technical standards for commercial vehicle batteries. At the same time, both sides will also focus on overseas markets.
Since 2012, CATL and Yutong have engaged in a decade-long in-depth strategic cooperation. The two sides have worked together to lead the technical upgrading and safe, green development of the commercial vehicle industry and promote the electrification process of commercial vehicles through joint research technologies such as electrical system technology upgrading, Cell to Pack (CTP) innovative technology application and battery system safety protection.
So far, CATL has provided Yutong with 19GWh power batteries, providing power for nearly 150,000 new energy buses, accounting for 93%, helping them to be exported to more than 40 countries and regions such as Qatar, France, Britain and Spain.
The two sides have safeguarded an estimated 30 billion kilometers of safe travel and have reduced carbon emissions by more than 23 million tons. As Yutong’s largest power battery supplier, CATL also provides clean power for Yutong commercial vehicles such as sanitation vehicles, mixers, tractors and dump trucks.

In the new decade, CATL and Yutong will deepen their strategic cooperation, strengthen technological innovation, promote technological upgrading and industrial green and low-carbon transformation, and facilitate the early realization of the goal of carbon neutrality in the transportation field.
