CATL Reshuffles Management, Vice Chairman Steps down
Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) announced on August 1 that Huang Shilin, Vice Chairman and Deputy General Manager of the Chinese battery giant, has recently submitted his resignation from various positions for personal reasons, taking effect on August 1.
CATL said that “Huang Shilin will explore business opportunities in the emerging fields of ‘Solar Storage, Charging and Inspection’, and may form strategic synergy with the company in the future to jointly promote the development of the new energy industry.”
After Huang’s departure, Zhou Jia, General Manager of CATL, will replace him as one of the two Vice Chairmans of the company. The other Vice Chairman is Li Ping, who is also the actual controller of the company together with Chairman Robin Zeng.
After taking up his new post, Zhou will step down as General Manager of the company, which will be taken over by Robin Zeng. The vacancy of Deputy General Manager left by Huang has not yet been filled.
Huang Shilin, aged 55, once worked as R&D director in Amperex Technology Limited (ATL). After 2012, he became the general manager and vice chairman of CATL, and since 2017, he has served as the vice chairman and deputy general manager of the company.
As one of the core members of the founding team, Huang is also the second largest shareholder of the company, with a shareholding ratio of about 10.6%, second only to its largest shareholder Ningde Ruiting Investment, which is jointly held by Robin Zeng and Li Ping, and owns 23.3% equity.
In addition to working at CATL, Huang Shilin is currently the chairman of Contemporary Nebula Technology Energy Co., Ltd. (CNTE), while 20% of its shares are directly held by CATL. Established in 2019, CNTE’s main business is intelligent power station with integrated solar storage, charging and inspection, household and outdoor energy storage and other products, which is quite consistent with the business Huang will later engage in.
