CEO of JD Retail Xu Lei Promoted to President of JD.com

Major Chinese e-commerce company JD.com announced on September 6 the appointment of Xu Lei, the former CEO of JD Retail, as the new president of the company. Xu will be responsible for day-to-day operations and the collaborative development of various business units within JD.com, and will continue to report to Chairman and CEO Richard Qiangdong Liu.

The company also released in a report for the HKEx that Xin Lijun, former CEO of JD Health, was appointed as the new CEO of JD Retail, while Jin Enlin, former head of the Medicine Department of JD Health, has now become the CEO of JD Health.

After Xu Lei’s promotion, Richard Qiangdong Liu will devote more time to formulating the company’s long-term strategies, mentoring younger management and contributing to the revitalization of rural areas.

JD.com noted that in the last 12 years since he joined the company – and especially since he became CEO of JD Retail in July 2018 – Xu Lei has established the business philosophy of “trust-based and customer-centric value creation,” and has led JD Retail to achieve high-quality growth for three consecutive years.
