Changan Auto’s First Flying Car to Debut on December 27th

On December 18th, Changan Automobile announced that it will sign a contract with relevant companies on December 21st to conduct forward-looking research on flying cars.

On the 17th, the company posted a poster on Weibo, prominently featuring a propeller of a flying car with the words “Big Move” in the middle and the date of December 27, 2024, below, indicating the unveiling time of the flying car.

In November, Changan Automobile already announced that it would simultaneously develop products and industries in two forms of low-altitude aircraft and flying cars in the field of flying cars, with plans to launch flying car products by 2026.

At the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show, Changan Automobile shared its latest achievements and plans for intelligence landing, including Changan Intelligent Driving, Tianshu Large Model, flying cars, and humanoid robots. The company plans to invest over 50 billion RMB in the next five years to develop comprehensive transportation solutions in land, sea, and air, as well as in the field of humanoid robots, with plans to launch Changan flying car products by 2026.

Currently, the most prominent domestic automaker in the field of flying cars should be Xpeng Aeroht. On December 14th, Xpeng Aeroht’s “Land Carrier” flying car successfully completed its test flight in the core business district of Lujiazui in Shanghai, marking Shanghai’s first flight of a flying car. According to reports, Xpeng Aeroht’s “Land Carrier” is planned to have an annual production capacity of 10,000 units, with a price not exceeding 2 million RMB. As planned, Xpeng Aeroht’s “Land Carrier” is expected to receive an airworthiness certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration in October 2025. At the same time, Xpeng Aeroht’s Flying Car Smart Manufacturing Base project is expected to be completed in the third quarter of next year, with flying cars set for mass production and delivery in 2026.
