The airport is located about 46km south of Tian’anmen Square, the world’s biggest public square. As the new facility takes up a total of 1.4 million square meters, including 700,000 square meters of core area, it equals the size of 63 such squares, according to Jiemian.
Seven domestic airplanes were supposed to take off from the new airport on the opening day.
Passengers can take the Daxing airport subway line from the city center to get to the new complex in just 19 minutes.

The security check channels have the capacity of checking 260 people per hour, which is 40% more efficient than traditional airports, according to staff member of the Beijing Capital Airport.
