China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance Releases Power Battery Data

On Wednesday, the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance released the power battery data for the month of December and for the whole year of 2021.

From January to December, 2021, a total of 154.5 GWh of power batteries in China were installed in electric vehicles, up 142.8% year-on-year, including 74.3 GWh of ternary batteries and 79.8 GWh of ferrous lithium phosphate batteries.

From January to December, 2021, a total of 58 power battery enterprises in China installed their products on EVs, a decrease of 13 companies compared with the same period of last year.

In 2021, the top 10 EV makers applying most power batteries were Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL), BYD, China Lithium Battery Technology Co., Ltd. (CALB), Gotion High-Tech, LG New Energy, SVOLT, Tafeier Energy, EVE Energy, Farasis Energy and Sunwoda Electronic.

From January to December 2021, China’s power battery output was 219.7 GWh, up 163.4% year-on-year. Among them, the output of ternary batteries was 93.9 GWh, accounting for 42.7% of the total output. The output of ferrous lithium phosphate batteries was 125.4 GWh, accounting for 57.1% of the total output.

From January to December 2021, the sales volume of power batteries in China reached 186.0 GWh, up 182.3% year-on-year. Among them, the sales of ternary batteries were 79.6 GWh, a year-on-year increase of 128.9%; Sales of ferrous lithium phosphate batteries were 106.0 GWh, up 245.0% year-on-year.
