BEIJING, Dec. 21 – China's first fully AI-generated content (AIGC) animated feature film, The Bond of Reunion, held its premiere, marking a significant milestone in the application of artificial intelligence in filmmaking. The film tells the story of two panda siblings, utilizing AI technology throughout its entire production pipeline.

The production team leveraged a self-developed platform that broke away from traditional linear workflows, enabling parallel progress across multiple stages and real-time iterative updates. This innovative approach dramatically shortened the production cycle, compressing what is typically a 3 to 5-year process for an animated film down to approximately one year. The film showcases the rapid advancement of AI in handling complex details, such as the realistic texture of the pandas' fur and authentic facial muscle movements during expressions.

Directed by Ma Teng, the film is a co-production by China Media Group and Beijing New Film Union. The Bond of Reunion represents a major step in exploring new, efficient production paradigms for the animation industry, demonstrating AI's potential to reshape creative workflows while maintaining artistic quality.
