China’s Leading Mobile Transportation Service DiDi Launches Global Vaccination Support Fund
On Jan. 22, China’s leading ride-hailing service Didi Chuxing (DiDi) launched a Global Vaccination Support Fund, supporting COVID-19 vaccination efforts across DiDi’s global communities.
The $10 million funding program was designed to provide locally tailored support for vaccination efforts across the 13 countries DiDi operates in outside of China. The company offers a full range of app-based services for over 550 million users across the Asia Pacific, Latin America and Russia. The Global Vaccination Support Fund aims to offer free or discounted rides for users traveling to vaccination appointments.
“The vaccination support initiative is a crucial step in expediating pandemic recovery across the world. DiDi teams’ strong commitment to building a safety system for complex mobility scenarios plays a crucial role in protecting our users throughout this challenging time,” said DiDi President Jean Liu. “We will continue supporting our global communities to get the world moving forward again.”
Over the past few months, DiDi has set an industry standard to control the pandemic across its global markets. Didi has sponsored more than 6 million free or discounted rides and meals for frontline healthcare workers under the DiDi Hero Initiative Program. In addition, the firm also distributed more than 6 million masks and sanitation kits to drivers globally.
