Chinese Automobile Marque Baojun Unveils 2023 Baojun Kiwi EV Equipped With DJI System

Chinese automobile manufacturer Baojun revealed the first look at its 2023 KiWi EV, the first mass production model equipped with DJI’s intelligent driving system on Friday. This is the first strategic cooperation model between SAIC-GM-Wuling and Shenzhen-based drone developer DJI. The vehicle is set to be open for test drives beginning in July and be officially delivered in August.

The 2023 KiWi EV adds three colors: brown, blue and green. It adopts an advanced 3C1B coating process, which was finished by automatic spraying robot. The six layers of paint contributes to the vehicles resilience to chemical corrosion and impact, helping the color of the vehicle last longer.

The most important aspect of this upgrade is the DJI vehicle-mounted intelligent driving system – DJI80 – which can only take over control once the vehicle has reached 80 km/h. Within this range, it can realize the functions of following other vehicles, keeping centered in a lane, and changing lanes.

During the development of intelligent driving, the 2023 KiWi EV has established a complete set of simulation test capabilities in which it utilized data from a variety of sensors. The system is able to restore complex and diverse traffic data, with tens of thousands of test cases.

In addition, an open road test system has been established and more than one million kilometers of successful road tests and tens of thousands of intelligent parking tests have been completed, all of which contribute to an in-depth driving and parking digital memory. The latest model in the series is equipped with a motor with a maximum power output of 50 kW and a cruising range of 305 km under NEDC conditions. It supports fast charging and is able to bring the battery from 30% to 80% in one hour.
