Chinese Battery Leader CATL’s Subsidiary Invests in Establishment of Mining Company
According to Qichacha, a Chinese enterprise information inquiry platform, Guizhou Shidai Mining Co., Ltd. was established on December 31, 2021, with a registered capital of 800 million yuan ($125.88 million). The company is jointly owned by Guizhou Kailin Holdings (Group) Co., Ltd. and CATL (Guizhou) New Energy Materials Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL).
The new company’s business scope includes: mining of mineral resources (non-coal mines), mineral processing (except rare earths, radioactive minerals and tungsten), mineral washing and processing as well as metal ore sales.

Not long ago, the company signed an agreement with the People’s Government of Guizhou Province to cooperate in the construction of a battery swapping station network. Both parties agreed to build a new energy market and industrial highland in Guizhou.
