Chinese Electric Vehicle Makers Unveil Delivery Results for March
On the first day of April, many Chinese electric vehicle makers unveiled their monthly delivery data. Automakers included XPeng, Li Auto, and NIO, the three major players listed in the U.S. and Hong Kong.
XPeng
XPeng delivered a total of 15,414 smart electric vehicles (EVs) in March 2022, representing a 202% increase year-over-year. Monthly delivery of the P7 smart sports sedan exceeded 9,000 units in March for the first time, reaching a total of 9,183. March deliveries also consisted of 4,398 P5 smart family sedans and 1,833 G3 and G3i smart compact SUVs.
XPeng also disclosed its total deliveries for the first quarter of 2022, reaching 34,561 units, a 159% increase year-over-year, consisting of 19,427 P7s, 10,486 P5s and 4,648 G3 and G3i SUVs.
NIO
NIO delivered 9,985 vehicles in March 2022, representing an increase of 37.6% year-over-year. The deliveries consisted of 9,822 premium smart electric SUVs, including 1,726 ES8s, 5,064 ES6s and 3,032 EC6s, and 163 ET7s, the company’s flagship premium smart electric sedan. The deliveries of the ET7 to users started on March 28, 2022.
In the first quarter 2022, NIO delivered 25,768 vehicles, a new quarterly record, representing an increase of 28.5% year-over-year.
As a leading player in the power swap field, as of March 31, 2022, NIO had deployed 884 power swap stations, as well as 727 power charger stations and 3,832 destination chargers in China.
Li Auto
Li Auto delivered 11,034 units of its Li ONE, its only model, in March, up 125.2% year over year. This made the company’s first quarter deliveries hit 31,716, representing a 152.1% year-over-year increase. The cumulative deliveries of thr Li ONE reached 155,804 since the vehicle’s market debut in 2019. Li Auto is to unveil its flagship smart SUV L9 for family users on April 16.

NETA Auto
NETA, the EV brand of Hozon Auto, which was founded in October 2014, offers three models in China, the NETA V, NETA V Pro, and NETA U Pro, most of which start at under 100,000 RMB ($15,740).
NETA Auto delivered 12,026 vehicles in March, up 270% year-on-year. In the first quarter, NETA’s deliveries reached 30,152 units, up 305% year-on-year.
