Chinese Retail Platform Suning.com Unveils Flash Delivery Service
Chinese retail platform Suning.com officially launched its flash delivery service on Friday, entering the already crowded intra-city instant retail field.
The flash delivery service is based on the company’s advantage of having thousands of stores spread out across the country. Consumers can place an order with the “Suning Flash” icon in the company’s app. Goods will then be delivered from the store nearest to consumers and should arrive at the destination in an hour or less.
The service will be launched in more than 140 cities across the country, including Beijing, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Chengdu, and will include thousands of Suning.com stores.
In terms of distribution, Suning.com will cooperate with third-party distribution platforms instead of building its own distribution team. In terms of products, digital products that support the new service will cover the mainstream brands currently in the market, including Apple, Huawei, Xiaomi, Honor, and vivo. Household supplies such as Dyson’s hair dryers and Philips’ shavers are also launched for flash delivery.
Affected by the epidemic in the recent two years, logistics has experienced many challenges and has seen many major Internet companies laying out their own intra-city instant distribution services.
According to JD.com‘s most recent financial report, in the first quarter of 2022, the GMV of its instant retail business increased more than three times year-on-year. Based on the original delivery services, Meituan launched its own flash purchase business which covered fresh produce and daily necessities. In April this year, Pinduoduo‘s fresh grocery division was recruiting fruit merchants with 24-hour delivery capacity in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
