Chip Design Firm Vastai Technologies Demonstrates 7nm Cloud GPU
Vastai Technologies, a Chinese high-end chip design company, released a series of new products on September 3 at the 2022 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), and unveiled the SG100, a China-made 7nm cloud GPU chip.
Vastai Technologies CEO John Qian said that the chip features industry-leading graphics rendering performance with world-leading ultra-high throughput, ultra-high quality, and low-latency encoding capabilities. It incorporates rendering, AI, and video, and provides deep optimization for cloud gaming, cloud mobile, cloud desktop, cloud computing, and other metaverse application scenarios. SG100 also provides world-class SR-IOV virtualization support for end-to-end overall improvement of the user visual experience.
Prior to founding Vastai, Qian was an AMD executive who led the AMD China team to design and mass produce the industry’s first 7nm graphics processor and the first 7nm GPGPU architecture AI chip. Also, Vastai’s core R&D team has more than 18 years of experience in high-end chip design and mass production.
The chip has not yet been officially released. “We will release this GPU in the near future,” said Qian. By then, Vastai will enter the GPU market officially and will bring more product portfolio based on GPU, AI and video core technologies.
