Colliding with Apple, Huawei Announces A New Product Launch Conference on September 10
After Apple announced its product launch event on September 10th, Beijing time, Huawei announced on September 2nd that it would also hold a launch event on September 10th.
On September 10 at 14:30(at Beijing time), the Huawei Extraordinary Brand Ceremony and Harmony lntelligent Mobility Alliance New Product Launch will be held.
Subsequently, Richard Yu, Huawei’s Executive Director, Chairman of the Terminal BG, and Chairman of the Intelligent Automotive Solutions BU, responded by stating that Huawei’s most leading, innovative, and disruptive products have arrived! ‘This is an epoch-making product that others have thought of but could not achieve. After 5 years of persistence and investment, we have turned science fiction into reality. Huawei’s masterpiece, stay tuned!’ Richard Yu said.
Previously, Richard Yu revealed during a live broadcast that Huawei’s next-generation foldable screen has undergone five years of development and is about to be launched. ‘The next-generation foldable screen is something everyone can think of, but few can produce. We have been thinking about it for five years, and it might finally be coming out soon.’
On August 9, several digital bloggers on Weibo shared photos of Huawei’s executive director Richard Yu operating a new device in the cabin. In the images, Richard Yu is holding a new triple-foldable screen device, with the content displayed on the screen seemingly resembling a WeChat page. The left screen shows a message list, while the right screen displays a chat box or content from a webpage being browsed. It seems there is a stylus placed in a slot within the right phone case, leading to speculation that the new device may support stylus functionality.
Previously, a whistleblower claimed on social media that Huawei’s three-fold screen passed the 28μm UTG test. At the end of July, research firm IDC released the market share of foldable smartphones in China for the second quarter of 2024, with Huawei ranking first with a 41.7% market share, followed by vivo, Honor, OPPO, and Samsung with market shares of 23.1%, 20.9%, 8.4%, and 3%, respectively.
Compared to Huawei’s epic innovations, the iPhone 16 series continues its usual strategy of incremental updates.
On August 11, local time, renowned tech journalist Mark Gurman stated in his latest column that this year’s iPhone 16 series will continue the pattern of iteration seen in previous generations, with only minor adjustments.
The iPhone 16 series is expected to be named iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max, with no significant differences in appearance compared to the current versions and no major new features to be added.
Gurman expects that the biggest selling point of the iPhone 16 will be Apple Intelligence, which is the company’s new AI feature suite. By then, all iPhone 16 models will run Apple Intelligence, but it will also be compatible with the iPhone 15 Pro version.
Gurman commented on this, saying: ‘It’s hard to say how much appeal this will have. As I mentioned last week, I don’t think these features alone are enough to justify an upgrade. I don’t believe the new model will create a buying frenzy for Apple.’
In the latest column, Gurman also mentioned that a more significant change for the iPhone will be the iPhone 17, set to launch in September next year. Next year, Apple will once again explore the concept of new models, this time with a thinner design. Apple’s idea is to create an ‘Air’ version of the iPhone, positioned between the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro. Gurman refers to it as the ‘fourth iPhone model.’
Additionally, Gurman anticipates that Apple will produce a foldable iPhone, but all internal signs indicate that a foldable iPad is also a crucial priority, suggesting that we may see the foldable tablet version come to market even sooner.
