Cook Posts to Weibo, Cheers for Contestants
Apple CEO Cook has always maintained a low profile. But this time, seizing the chance to attend World Internet Conference in China, Cook also visited the China’s mobile game company Hero Entertainment. Cook was casual during the meeting, saying that maybe one day he’d put up glow sticks for mobile game players.

The tour was a success, and Cook said on his Weibo account that he “is leaving as an e-sports fan.”
The e-sports market has expanded dramatically during the past two years. At the Tencent e-sports conference this year, Tencent said it would create a billion-scale e-sports industry. There is no doubt that another billion-level market is emerging.
At the moment, the e-sports market is mainly centered on the Window desktop environment, which has little to do with Apple’s Mac platform. Apple has not made any big moves in the market.
But Cook’s remark on Weibo appears to suggest Apple may engage in the mobile game market and cultivate its own e-sports market. It may target games playable on its iPad product.
