Cumulative Installations of Huawei’s OpenEuler Platform Exceed 1.3M
At the openEuler Developer Day 2022 (ODD 2022) held on Friday, Jiang Dayong, the vice president of Huawei’s Kunpeng Computing business and director of the openEuler community, revealed the latest development progress of this open-source, free Linux distribution platform launched by Huawei.
Jiang said at ODD 2022 that the openEuler community has cooperated with 330 partners and 8,403 developers. At present, cumulative installations of openEuler total over 1.3 million, and the figure is expected to exceed 2 million later this year. The platform ranks first in terms of newly increased market share in industries such as government markets, operators business and finance in 2021.
The openEuler 22.03 LTS has now been officially released, which is also the first full scenario version jointly built by the whole community. It supports x86, ARM, RISC-V and other chip architectures, and is available for four scenarios – servers, cloud computing, edge computing and embedded scenarios – covering the full breadth of digital infrastructure.

Jiang also revealed that in 2022, the openEuler community will cooperate with many universities to cultivate fresh talent. In addition, Huawei and openEuler community partners will jointly invest 100 million yuan ($15.7 million) to finance the cultivation of platform talent.
Chinese tech giant Huawei had previously upgraded openEuler in September 2021, making the server operating system become a digital infrastructure operating system. The company said it will build two open source operating systems: HarmonyOS and openEuler.
