Details on Huawei’s “Pangu” Processor Leaked, Designed for PC

A blogger with the username “Magic Technology Jun” posted on Monday that Huawei is developing a processor chip called “Pangu,“ which will be used in PC computers. The goal is to replace Intel Core and AMD Ryzen. It is expected to be officially released in June 2022.

The leak also said that the forthcoming product is not suitable for ordinary consumers. Huawei’s Pangu processor may still use the ARM architecture, perhaps a derivative of Kirin, similar to the Qualcomm Snapdragon cx/c series.

Although the performance of a processor with ARM architecture cannot be comparable to that of an x86 server, it is very difficult to adapt the processor to different systems, software and equipment. Perhaps Huawei is preparing for the government enterprise market.

In fact, after several generations of evolution, the performance of the Kirin processor launched by Huawei has been continuously improved. The 5nm Kirin 9000 mobile phone chip has also been launched before. However, due to restrictions on the firm from the U.S., Huawei’s chip business has stagnated.
