The entry of world’s leading ride-hailing platform into the Australian market is a new milestone for DiDi in terms of their intensive global outreach.
Following a successful beta launch in Geelong last month, local DiDi driver recruitment in Melbourne commenced earlier this June and has seen positive response.
As the state capital of booming Victoria, Melbourne is the business, administrative and cultural hub of the state with a population of 4.5 million, according to Didi’s statement.
The Didi Express service kicks off in Melbourne along with welcome packages designed for both drivers and riders. The service will be launched with rigorous driver-vetting mechanisms and pioneering safety features, including private contact numbers, 24/7 emergency phone support and itinerary sharing.
DiDi will operate in Australia through its wholly owned local subsidiary and on top of that, continuous feedback from both drivers and passengers in Melbourne and Geelong will help Didi shape its product offerings and user experiences for the future.
As a business-friendly environment with an inclusive culture, Australia has highly diversified mobility needs. Taking into account globalization as its strategic core, Didi has also continued to grow its foothold in Latin America and Japan in 2018.
