Dingdong Maicai Upgrades Commodity Development Center, Builds Ecological Supply Chain System

Dingdong Maicai, a fresh food e-commerce brand, held a supply chain ecological summit in Shanghai on Friday, disclosing its supply chain ideas and product development direction to the public for the first time.

Dingdong Maicai was founded in May 2017, and covers Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Suzhou and other cities in China.

At present, the company is promoting its transformation from a traditional production and marketing mode to an ecological supply chain, in an effort to fully unify a complete link between stages ranging from placing orders to quality control, link optimization, development, marketing and sales feedback.

Next, the original purchasing and marketing focal point at Dingdong Maicai will be upgraded to a produce development center. The unit will be led by Xu Zhijian, Senior Vice President of the Commodity Development unit in Dingdong Maicai.

Meanwhile, Dingdong Maicai is looking to further expand its planning and development for produce in four different directions: food R&D and production, direct purchasing and orders, development of innovative products, and the identification of greatest product demand.

In terms of fresh agricultural products outside of the certified standard domain, Dingdong Maicai desires to ensure the quality of the goods it offers while operating a smooth chain of supply from a customer’s order to delivery. The company is also looking to develop products and food choices that have simple, easy-to-follow cooking instructions with a variety of  manufacturers and brands. At present, the proportion of co-branded and customized products is about 10%.
