DJI Launches Osmo Action 3 Sports Camera
Shenzhen-based camera and drone firm DJI released its new Osmo Action 3 sports camera on September 14, which adopts a unique quick-release design and starts from 2,299 yuan ($330) in China. This product is also available in many other countries around the world.
DJI’s Osmo Action 3 supports shots of up to 4K/120fps and has a convenient quick-release camera system, which helps users to fix the position and switch the lens easily and quickly. With the help of a horizontal and vertical shooting protection frame, it can quickly realize vertical shooting mode.
The Osmo Action 3 is equipped with a 1/1.7 inch CMOS, which can take 4K/120fp videos and 12-MP photos. It also supports D-Cinelike color mode, dynamic timelapse video and digital zoom.
In addition, the device brings upgrades to multi-mode stabilization technology based on the previous generation, and RockSteady 3.0 effectively eliminates camera shaking in all directions. This feature works up to 4K/120fps, providing a stable and immersive first-person perspective. This is the ideal stabilization for sport-specific filming scenarios like bike riding, and for on-the-go handheld filming.
HorizonSteady helps to eliminate camera shaking in all directions and even horizontally corrects tilts at any angle. That means that footage can remain horizontally level, even through heavy bumps and 360° rotations, creating the effect of a perfect horizon without any post-production, even in rapid pursuits like surfing. It also supports HorizonBalancing, which corrects the tilt horizontally within ±45° and supports the recording of stable 4K/60fps videos.
In terms of battery life, the firm claims that the Osmo Action 3 has a maximum battery capacity of 1770mAh in mainstream sports cameras. Under normal temperatures, it can record 1080p/30fps video for up to 160 minutes, and 4k/60fps video can be recorded continuously for 90 minutes without overheating. It can stand by in both low temperature and humid environments, and it is waterproof at depths of up to 16 meters without needing any additional equipment.

At the same time, DJI has released a battery storage box accessory for the Osmo Action 3. It stores three batteries and two microSD cards, and can be used together with those batteries as a power bank to charge other devices, like a smartphone.
The Osmo Action 3 also provides accessories such as an “InvisiStick” for skiing. The length of this selfie stick can be adjusted, and it can automatically eliminate the need for the selfie stick in DJI’s MIMO app during skiing, thus digitally hiding the selfie stick in snowsport shots.
