DJI Mavic 3 Classic Drone Set for Nov 2 Release

Shenzhen-based drone company DJI has recently announced that it will hold a product launch event at 9:00 am (EDT) on November 2, with the slogan “Explore Vivid.” According to previously leaked information, the product to be released by DJI this time is likely to be its Mavic 3 Classic unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

A promotional video shows the lens of a UAV with an irregular shape, much like the main camera of the DJI Mavic 3. It is believed to be a professional-grade 4/3” CMOS Hasselblad camera. This lens can effectively suppress noise in low light, and it has stronger picture resolution abilities and higher dynamic range.

According to Chinese media outlet DealsDrone, DJI’s Mavic 3 Classic is positioned as a lower-priced UAV with fewer configurations, expected to fill a market gap of devices around 10,000 yuan ($1,383) after the Mavic 2 falls out of use. Leaked information shows that the new UAV is equipped with the same main camera as the Mavic 3, with an equivalent focal length of 24 and a maximum aperture of F/2.8. DealsDrone said that the new model will also adopt a 4/3″ CMOS sensor.

In addition, it was reported that the suit of the DJI Mavic 3 Classic will be matched with DJI’s RC UAV remote controller, and it is not clear whether this is standard configuration.

DJI’s Mavic 3 was released in November 2021, and the dual camera system was introduced for the first time. The main camera is a 4/3″ CMOS Hasselblad, which is matched with up to 28 times hybrid zoom telephoto camera, and the price starts from 13,888 yuan ($1,921).

Two days ago, DJI also announced that a number of updates to the DJI Mini 3 Pro were released, including enhanced image transmission support and a vertical shooting template for the master lens. The DJI Mini 3 Pro can now use the DJI Cellular module to establish 4G network communication to ensure a stable and reliable image transmission connection. In environments with complex signals, O3 and Cellular image transmission can complement each other to improve communication quality and make flights more stable and safe.

In addition, after the firmware update, shutter priority and ISO priority modes have been added. Under the shutter priority, users can now freely set the shutter speed, and the camera will automatically control the ISO according to the set exposure value.
