DJI Neo Drone Unveiled: Weighs Only 169g and Can Fly for 15 Minutes

On July 26th, Weiliang Zhang, an insider from the drone industry, shared his speculations about the DJI Neo drone on LinkedIn. Using the FCC certification documents as a basis, and taking into account the battery weight and density of DJI’s Mini 4 and Tello models, Zhang estimated the DJI Neo’s battery to weigh 52.5 grams and have a density of 200 Wh/kg.

According to Zhang’s analysis, if we follow DJI’s typical rule that the battery makes up about 30% of a drone’s weight, we can infer that the Neo might weigh around 169 grams. He also noted that the Neo features a complete propeller cage and, when folded, it’s compact enough to fit in a pocket. The flight time, with its single-axis gimbal, is estimated to be around 15 minutes.

In related news, Walmart has silently started offering the DJI Neo Fly More Combo package at $329. This comprehensive package caters to users’ needs for extended battery life and storage, including extra batteries, a charging hub, and a custom-designed carrying case.

Despite DJI’s silence on updates about its latest products, there are rumors that the company is working on new models such as the DJI Air 3S and a new addition to the Mavic series.
