EV Maker BYD Launches Song PLUS DM-i 5G Version

Chinese automaker BYD announced on Friday that its Song PLUS DM-i model, which went on sale on March 25, 2021, has added a 5G version due to its high sales volumes. The new edition has been further divided into a flagship model and a four-wheel drive model. The vehicles are priced at 185,800 yuan ($27,368) and 216,800 yuan ($31,934) respectively.

The BYD Song PLUS Dm-i has three core technologies: a 1.5 L high-efficiency engine, EHS electric hybrid system and a power blade battery made especially for the DM-i super hybrid model. This model is divided into several versions. The 51km version consumes as little as 4.4 L of oil per 100 km, while the 110km version takes only 7.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. This new version of the vehicle is priced starting at 146,800 yuan after subsidy.

The 5G version of BYD Song PLUS DM-i launched this time is equipped with a 15.6-inch adaptive rotary pad, INFINITY audio, automatic parking and 19-inch low wind resistance wheel hubs.

In fact, in September 2021, BYD also launched the Song PLUS DM-i AWD edition. This four-wheel drive model is equipped with a 1.5 Ti fuel engine and EHS electric hybrid system, and has an acceleration of 5.9s from 0 to 100 km/h and a price tag of 199,800 yuan.

In terms of sales volume, BYD sold 106,042 new energy vehicles in April compared with 25,662 vehicles in the same period last year. From January to April, the cumulative sales volume of new energy vehicles was 392,371 units, up 387.94% year-on-year. 25,108 vehicles from the Song series were sold 25,108 in April, while the Song DM series’ sales volume increased by 1,299.5% year-on-year.
