Evergrande New Energy Vehicle Group’s Hengchi 5 Starts Pre-Sale
Evergrande New Energy Vehicle Group’s first model, the Hengchi 5, is now available for pre-orders, the automobile arm of Chinese real estate developer Evergrande Group announced on July 6. The company claimed the Hengchi 5 is the best all-electric SUV priced under 300,000 yuan ($44,730).
The car measures at 4,725 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width and 1,676 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,780 mm. In terms of interior decoration, the center console of the Hengchi 5 is divided into three screens, including a 10.25-inch OLED panel, a 14.6-inch central control touch screen and a 10.25-inch passenger screen. With the third-generation Snapdragon digital cockpit platform, facial recognition, emotion recognition, multi-screen interaction, gesture interaction, voice interaction and other functions can be easily realized.
The model is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor developed by the company along with Bosch, with a maximum power of 150 kW and peak torque of 345 N·m, enabling the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 7.8 seconds. The chassis uses the H-Platform 3.0 intelligent pure electric platform jointly developed by Bosch and EDAG.
Through its “L2.5 + H-Pilot” intelligent assisted driving system, Hengchi 5 can easily carry out automated valet parking, remote parking, highway driving assistance and so on. The Hengchi 5 is powered by a lithium iron phosphate battery from Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. (CATL), with a capacity of 72.8 kWh, giving the vehicle a CLTC range of 602 km. The battery takes 28 minutes to charge from 30 percent to 80 percent in fast charging mode.
It is worth noting that, considering Evergrande Group is still facing debt issues that need to be addressed, its auto arm said that it will use a dedicated account to collect deposits to show that the funds will not be used for other projects. Starting August 1, consumers can begin paying a 10,000 yuan deposit for the Hengchi 5, which is refundable within 15 days.
Deliveries of the model will begin in October, and Evergrande New Energy Vehicle Group aims to complete the first 10,000 vehicles in the first quarter of 2023.
