Faraday Future Shines at CES, Struggles to Catch up With Tesla

The embattled Chinese-American luxury EV-maker Faraday Future announced on January 8 that its FF91 model completed a 250-mile long-distance road test at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), held annually in Las Vegas.

Faraday Future Global CEO Carsten Breitfeld personally drove the FF 91 from Los Angeles to Las Vegas to participate in the exhibition, saying this proves his car to be among the world’s best electric vehicles in the same class, worthy of the moniker “king of ultra-luxury electric endurance.”

The founder and former CEO of the company, Jia Yueting, praised the performance of the FF91 on Weibo. He also noted that while the first China-made Teslas have already come off the production line, FF is still struggling to move forward with mass production.

Breitfeld previously revealed that the FF91, positioned as a luxury vehicle, will be priced at 2 million yuan ($288,000) in China and $200,000 in the United States.

At a creditors’ meeting in December, Jia stated that he would seriously consider the mass production of the FF91 both in China and the United States.
