FAW Jiefang and Tencent Cloud Reach Strategic Cooperation Agreement

On July 11, FAW Jiefang Automobile Co., Ltd., FAW Group’s commercial vehicle arm, inked a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Tencent Cloud Computing (Beijing) Co., Ltd., in regard to automotive information security. 

The agreement will allow both parties to give full play to their advantages in their respective fields and join forces to build basic capabilities in auto information security, product R&D technology, testing and validation technology, and cutting-edge technology research. Standing atop FAW Jiefang’s comprehensive R&D system and colossal commercial vehicle market while leveraging Tencent’s leading expertise in information security, the duo aims to realize development and production in the automotive security field.

FAW Jiefang was established on January 18, 2003. It is a medium, heavy and light truck and bus manufacturing enterprise based on FAW Group’s original truck business with an annual production capacity of 310,000 vehicles. Headquartered in Changchun, Jilin Province, it employs nearly 24,800 people.

Tencent has invested in the digital construction of the automobile industry for quite some time. At present, it has reached agreements with more than 40 car companies (such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi) in the field of intelligent travel. On July 11, Daimler Greater China Ltd., a subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz Group, signed a memorandum of cooperation with Tencent Cloud to launch a strategic cooperation concerning the field of high-level automated driving while using cloud computing, big data, and AI technologies to speed up the simulation, testing and application of Mercedes-Benz’s automated driving technology.
