Food Delivery Giant Ele.me Joins Hands with Beijing Daxing International Airport

Passengers at Beijing Daxing International Airport now can have their food delivered to the departure gate as the one-year-old hub is collaborating with Alibaba-affiliated food delivery platform Ele.me.

Airport officials said that customers can place food orders from the 21 restaurants in the airport through Ele.me as the platform expanded the service to inside the airport. 

The cooperation to a large extent will save passengers’ time as they rush for their flights. Food will be sent to them within 30 minutes once the order is placed and customers are allowed to enjoy the food on the aircraft. 

A similar type of service was applied in China’s railway system back in 2017, where passengers can pre-order food online on their way to the stations. 

Ele.me configured an exclusive Blue Knight food delivery team to offer premium services for Daxing Airport. All the members from the Blue Knight fleet will be required to take a nucleic acid COVID-19 test.

According to Liu Li, the logistics equipment designer from Ele.me, the Blue Knights will be equipped with suitcase-like delivery boxes which are easy to carry around. 

The platform also promises that the approximately 700 types of food, including Chinese cuisine, fast food, coffee, tea and bakeries, will undergo rigorous food safety inspection and price reviews, ensuring the quality while maintaining the food at equivalent prices to offline purchases.
