Foxconn Zhengzhou Factory Begins Recruitment for Production of Apple’s iPhone 14

The Chinese mainland remains the leading area for Hon Hai Precision Industry, better known as Foxconn, to assemble iPhone models. In order to meet the labor demand for the production of new iPhone 14 models in the second half of the year, Apple has requested the company to start recruitment at its Zhengzhou factory two months in advance, prepare for shipments and avoid the impact of local lockdowns or supply chain challenges, Economic Daily News reported on Monday.

According to the report, people close to Foxconn believe that due to Apple’s current production capacity concerns, the stocking of the iPhone 14 series this year is at least two months ahead of schedule, and it is estimated that the stocking volume of the iPhone 14 will be higher than that of the 30 million iPhone 13 units this year, to cope with sudden supply chain risks.

The Foxconn iDPBG Zhengzhou Factory, the largest iPhone assembly base operated by the company, started interviewing workers on May 22, and the job-seeker bonus was 5,500 yuan ($827).

Recently, after the lifting of a pandemic-induced lockdown of the Zhengzhou factory, recruitment work resumed quickly. Domestic media outlet Sina quoted people close to Foxconn as saying that many factories are facing uncertainties, and many Apple orders have been transferred to the Zhengzhou factory this year because of the pandemic.

Sources pointed out that although Apple actively promotes the overseas layout of OEM partners, including in India and Vietnam, the operation and production in regions outside of China still need to be adjusted.
