Geely-Backed EV Firm Zeekr Names Third Car “Zeekr X”
Geely-backed electric vehicle company Zeekr officially announced on February 3 that the name of its third vehicle model will be the “Zeekr X,” also unveiling its appearance and body dimensions.
The Zeekr X represents a break from the firm’s established naming precedent. The new car is positioned as a Class-A, five-seat SUV, based on SEA architecture. It adopts frameless doors, frameless exterior rearview mirrors and a hidden charging cover. The length, width and height of the car are 4450x1836x1572mm, with a 2750mm wheelbase.
The appearance of the Zeekr X was created by a team led by renowned international designer Stefan Sielaff, inheriting the design language of the firm’s previous models. The front of the car adopts intelligent matrix LED transmission headlights, which are hidden in the grille. 3D LED daytime lights are composed of 41 luminous units on the left and right. The rear of the car adopts an integrated taillight, and the “Zeekr” luminous logo is in the center.
The Zeekr X will have a similar 0-100km/h acceleration time as the 001 and 009 models, which are capable of 3.8s and 4.5s, respectively. The Zeekr X is expected to be officially unveiled at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show in April, and is scheduled to be released on the market within the year.
In the meantime, pictures of the new model’s interior have been exposed online. Its aisle design seemingly helps front passengers to get in and out of the car. It is also equipped with panoramic awning, head-up display and large-sized central control screen, and the physical buttons on the steering wheel are simplified to two buttons.
A spy photo showing the Zeekr X model was released on January 30. At that time, Victor Yang, the senior vice president of Geely, said on social media, “According to the positioning of Zeekr, there will be no products below 200,000 yuan. The positioning of follow-up products will be higher and higher, and the specific situation will be seen at the Shanghai Auto Show.”

A total of 3,116 units of the Zeekr 001 and Zeekr 009 were delivered in January this year, which was slightly lower than the 3,530 units recorded in January 2022, a drop caused by the 21-day shutdown of its production line. The cumulative deliveries of Zeekr have now exceeded 80,000 units. The firm previously stated that in 2023, two brand-new products will be launched, and more new technologies will be reflected in them. The company aims to sell about 140,000 vehicles by the end of 2023, and it plans to expand its sales in Europe. Zeekr also plans to start selling vehicles equipped with the Mobileye assisted driving system later this year.
