Giant Panda Lin Hui Passes Away in Thailand
On April 19th, according to the Chinese Consulate-General in Chiang Mai, Lin Hui, a giant panda on loan to Thailand, passed away at 1:10 am local time.
Lin Hui is a female giant panda, born in September 2001 at the Wolong China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Pandas. In October 2003, Lin Hui was leased to Chiang Mai Zoo in Thailand along with another male giant panda named Chuang Chuang.
On April 18th, a Thai netizen who was live streaming at the Chiang Mai Zoo suddenly discovered that Lin Hui appeared to be unwell with bleeding from the nose and bloodstains on the neck, which caused concern. Subsequently, enthusiastic netizens immediately notified zoo keepers and veterinarians for examination.

Unfortunately, Lin Hui passed away after rescue efforts were unsuccessful. Experts from both China and Thailand will conduct a joint investigation into the cause of Lin Hui’s death as soon as possible and make necessary arrangements.
Having lived in Thailand for 20 years, Lin Hui has gained deep love from the Thai people and become a messenger of friendly exchanges between the peoples of China and Thailand.
