Honor Magic V: First Foldable Smartphone Equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1
Chinese smartphone brand Honor held a press conference on Monday to release several new products and services, including its newest handset, the Magic V foldable smartphone, a new operating system and the GS 3 smart watch.
Honor Magic V
The Honor Magic V is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile platform and supported by Magic Live AI engine to deliver a fluid user experience.
The Magic V’s flagship feature, its internal folding screen, measures 7.9 inches from corner to corner, and has a resolution of 2272 x 1984, a refresh rate of 90Hz and an aspect ratio of 10.3:9.
The external screen, however, has a resolution of 2560 x 1080, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 21:9 aspect ratio. Honor says this will help make the device more usable when users don’t want to unfold the device. When folded, the Magic V measures 72.7mm wide, 14.3mm thick, and has a height of 160.4mm, and when unfolded it measures 141.1mm wide and 6.7mm thick.
In terms of battery, the Honor Magic V has a built-in 4750mAh battery with an asymmetric dual-battery structure, which supports 66W wired fast charging.
The model is Honor’s first phone to support independent security storage which features a secure storage chip with the CC EALS+ security certification. Further, the model is backed by Honor’s dual-TEE OS. This new form of security means that the device requires password authentication even if it has been rooted and flashed, which makes stealing it pointless.
The Honor Magic V is backed by a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 50-megapixel spectrum-enhanced camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 8*8 dTOF focus system. Honor equipped the device with a 42-megapixel front camera on both outer screens.

Officially, the Honor Magic UI 6.0 upgrades the three-dimensional wisdom experience of the Magic Live + basic OS and Magic Live + cross-device OS with the real-time online perception, understanding, and learning capabilities of the Magic Live intelligence engine.
The MagicUI 6.0 also brings four privacy protection measures, including local processing of user data, user authorization, anti-intrusion protection and chip encryption.
