Honor of Kings Tops February’s Global Mobile Game List
Sensor Tower, a mobile application and mobile game intelligence platform, announced on Wednesday that Honor of Kings from Tencent had earned $225 million across the global App Store and Google Play in February 2022, returning it to the top of the global mobile game list. About 95.2% of Honor of Kings’ revenue was from China’s own iOS market, while the revenue from overseas markets accounted for 4.8%.
Arena of Valor, an overseas version of the Honor of Kings mobile game, has been given upgraded importance and was made a strategic key project as of September 2021. According to a report by LatePost on March 10, the team working on the title saw their investment budget double in order to give them more resources with which to work.
PUBG Mobile from Tencent was the second highest earning mobile game worldwide for February 2022, with $205.2 million in gross revenue (including the revenue from Game For Peace). About 64.2% of PUBG Mobile’s revenue was from China, where it has been localized as Game For Peace, followed by 7.7% from the United States. The next top grossing game was Genshin Impact from miHoYo, followed by Candy Crush Saga from King, and Roblox from Roblox Corporation.

The global mobile games market generated an estimated $6.6 billion from player spending across the App Store and Google Play in February 2022, marking a decrease of 7.6% year-over-year. The No. 1 market for global revenue in February 2022 was the U.S., which generated $1.9 billion, or 28.6 percent of total player spending worldwide. Japan ranked No. 2 for revenue at 18.8 percent, followed by China’s iOS market, at approximately 17%.
