HP Denies ‘Moving Half of PC Production Out of China’

In response to recent rumors about ‘moving half of PC production out of China,’ HP China stated today: ‘This is a false report regarding HP’s operations in China. China is an indispensable key part of HP’s global supply chain, and we are unwaveringly committed to our operations and development in China.’

HP stated that in China, HP’s PC manufacturing business still holds a significant position, providing high-quality products and services to the global market. To further enhance the resilience of its supply chain, the company is currently actively optimizing strategies and increasing flexibility to better serve global customers and meet their diverse needs.

Yesterday, foreign media reported that HP plans to move part of its personal computer (PC) production out of China, with Thailand being the main destination for this shift. Additionally, HP will establish a backup design center in Singapore. Several insiders revealed that at least five HP suppliers are constructing new manufacturing plants or warehouses in Thailand, with two of them having been increasing production capacity at HP’s request since the beginning of this year.
