Huawei Donates OpenEuler Open Source Operating System, Releases ORA Talent Development Acceleration Plan

On Tuesday, the “OS Industry Summit 2021” was held in the Beijing. At the summit, leading Chinese telecommunications and electronics firm Huawei joined hands with industry customers and partners to review the latest progress in the operating system industry, and offer some news on openEuler.

At the summit, Wang Tao, Executive Director of the Board of Huawei, announced in his speech: “Huawei donated the full code, brand trademark, community infrastructure and other related assets of the openEuler open source operating system to the Open Atom Open Source Foundation, building a stronger digital infrastructure at a faster speed.”

At the same time, under the guidance of China’s Ministry of Education, Huawei also released the ORA Talent Development Acceleration Plan, a plan to nurture millions of talented prospects spanning 500 universities over three years. This move aims at encouraging more university staff and students to join the EulerOS ecosystem.

In addition, in order to better gather industrial innovation, Huawei, in conjunction with six major cities in China, including Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Wuhan and Nanjing, cooperated with eight operating system partners to jointly launch the first batch of “Euler Eco-Innovation Centers” to further deepen the layout of the EulerOS ecosystem across the country.

Euler Eco-Innovation Centers will give full play to the power of EulerOS to support diversified computing. It will be able to support the whole scenarios such as server, cloud computing, edge computing and embedded system. It will also support system adoption, talent training, cooperative innovation, industry cluster and community building to promote the development of the regional digital economy.
