Huawei is Reportedly Developing Triple-Folding Screen Phone
According to Chinese media Cailian, Huawei is developing a “triple-folding screen phone” which could hit the market as early as the second quarter of this year.
According to information on the official website of the China National Intellectual Property Administration, Huawei did indeed register two patents related to triple-folding screens in March and July 2022. The patent descriptions clearly mention that the electronic device has three shells and two connectors.
Huawei has previously released three types of foldable screen phones: a small foldable phone that folds up and down, with the most recent product being the Pocket S, released on November 2, 2022; a phone that folds outward from left to right, with the most recent product being the Mate Xs2, released on April 28, 2022; and a phone with a screen that folds inward from left to right, with the most recent product being the Mate X5, released on September 8, 2023.
As of the time of writing, Huawei has not responded to whether there are plans to release a triple-folding screen phone in the near future.
However, Taiwan’s Tech News reports that Huawei has expanded its backup material orders from Taiwanese bearing manufacturers Zhaoli and Fushida, and has begun to stock up in large quantities. It is expected that the new product will be launched as early as the second quarter of this year.
