On March 14, Huawei launched its new “lite” flagship, Nova 4e, the first smartphone equipped with a 32 MP front camera, at Damei Art Center in Beijing. According to He Gang, director of Huawei’s smartphone line, the new product is a tribute to art.
The Nova series, which takes its name from the four letter in ‘innovation’, features a brand DNA of being young and fashionable. According to Huawei, the 32MP camera is an industrial leading lens with outstanding abilities in selfie-taking. According to Lv Jinye, a Generation Z product manager, Nova 4e does not use overly beautifying effects, and uses more original presentation of color and facial features instead.
The phone also excels in its industrial design, which comes in three colors—Pearl White, Magic Night Black and Garnet Blue. The Garnet Blue color has a gradient that glows with a S-shaped pattern on the back.
The phone has a triple-lens rear camera, featuring a 48MP main camera, and a 8MP 120-degrees ultra wide-angle and 2MP depth sensor.
In terms of configuration, Huawei nova 4e is equipped with Huawei’s own Kirin 710 processor, with a battery capacity of 3340mAh. It also supports rear fingerprint unlock.
In addition to its appearances and photo-taking capabilities, the Nova 4e also supports a variety of AI scene recognition, just like the Nova 4 which was released at the end of last year. Through AI calorie recognition, users can accurately identify food calories and make diet plans accordingly. AR translation supports the translation of over 10 languages.
In addition, Huawei’s Nova 4e is equipped with the company’s more efficient GPU Turbo 2.0, which greatly improves its gaming performance. Its Histen 5.0 audio processing technology elevates audio qualities.
The Nova 4e comes in two storage options including 4 GB RAM with 128 GB storage and 6 GB RAM with 128 GB storage, priced at 1,999 yuan ($297) and 2,299 yuan respectively. The pre-sale began the same afternoon it was launched and official sales will open on March 21.
