Huawei May Release A New Foldable Pocket Phone in February, Codenamed LEM

On January 28th, according to Huawei distributor @看山的叔叔, Huawei is preparing to launch a new flip-foldable screen smartphone in February. This is another small foldable screen product following the release of Huawei’s P50 Pocket in 2021 and Pocket S in 2022.

At present, there is no exposure of the specifications for this new device. It is only confirmed that the codename for the new device is LEM and it may be equipped with a 5G Kirin chipset. The positioning may be similar to the nova series models. Some Huawei stores will start ‘blind appointments’ after Chinese New Year.

Huawei has already launched three major foldable screen smartphone product lines, namely the Pocket series, X series, and Xs series. Among them, the Pocket series currently only has two old models: P50 Pocket and Pocket S. However, Huawei has managed to capture 29.6% of the Chinese market share in 2023 with just these two models.

The Pocket S, priced at 4988 yuan (approximatly ＄695), is still available for sale on the Huawei Store. This device is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 4G processor and features a 6.9-inch inner screen and a 1.04-inch circular outer screen. The inner screen has a resolution of 2790 × 1188 and supports a refresh rate of 120Hz, high-frequency PWM dimming at 1440Hz, touch sampling rate of 300Hz, color display of up to 1.07 billion colors, and P3 wide color gamut. The outer screen has a resolution of 340 ×340 pixels.

The Huawei Pocket S is equipped with a super-sensing imaging system and an RYYB super-sensing sensor, increasing the amount of incoming light by 40%. It features a 40-megapixel super-sensing main camera, emphasizing real perception and textured images. It also comes with a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera (aperture f/2.2), laser autofocus sensor, and is supplemented by ultra-cold flexible graphene cooling technology. The weight is approximately 190g.
