On Mar. 26, Huawei P30 and P30 Pro, two smartphones optimized for photography were officially launched in Paris, France.
The phone come in five colors including breathing crystal, amber sunrise, aurora, pearl white and black.
In terms of chipset, Huawei P30 is equipped with Huawei’s self manufactured Kirin 980 processor, with in-display fingerprint recognition and a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 2340×1080 resolution. The larger Pro-version sports a 6.47-inch curved display.
The Huawei P30 is equipped with a SuperSensing 40MP Leica triple camera, which contains a 40MP wide angle lens, 16MP ultra wide angle lens and 8MP telephoto lens.
The Huawei P30 Pro is equipped with the revolutionary supersensing 40MP Leica quad camera, containing a 40MP wide angle lens, 20MP ultra wide angle lens, 8MP telephoto lens and the ToF depth sensing camera.
In the DxOMark rankings, the P30 Pro scored 112 in total (a photo score of 199 and a video score of 97), ranking before the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus (scoring 109) and Apple iPhone XS Max (scoring 105). It is now at the top of the list of best rated phone cameras.
It is worth mentioning that the Huawei P30 Pro uses the most powerful superzoom lens technology, with a super wide focal range starting from 16mm to 1343mm, making it clear enough to capture the craters and plains of the moon.
Some have commented that it is the combined equivalent of a telescope, microscope and night vision goggles.
However on Mar. 27, Samsung’s official Weibo account released a poster, teasing us that the clear moon photo presented at the Huawei launch event was actually taken by a digital single-lens reflex camera and not the phone itself.
Thanks to the powerful light input of the ultra-sensing sensor and the f/1.6 large aperture, the Huawei P30 Pro is capable of taking excellent evening photographs. The combination of optical image stabilization (OIS) and artificial intelligence stabilization (AIS) ensures clear and stable imaging no matter the time of day.
The Huawei P30 Pro features a brand new dual-view recording function that allows simultaneous recording of both panoramic and close-up images, which offers a broadcast-level filming experience.
Another interesting gadget launched at the event was the “smart glasses” known as Huawei Eyewear, which supports phone calls and wireless charging. Huawei Mobile posted on twitter saying, “The future is now! Together with Gentle Monster we have joined forces to take your wearable intelligence to the next level.”
The P30 is priced at €749 ($744), while the Huawei P30 Pro starts at €999 ($1125), increasing to €1099 ($1238) for the 256GB version, and €1249 ($1407) for the 512GB version.
