“Huawei’s performance in the Chinese market remains strong. However, although as a first-tier smartphone manufacturer working hard to expand business in the Western European market, the company has encountered the largest setback,” said Melissa Chau, deputy director of research on the quarterly follow-up report of the global smartphone market at IDC. Huawei’s access to Google Mobile Services was restricted due to sanctions from the US government following the company’s blacklisting last year.
She continued, “Huawei will continue to face challenges since the Sino-U.S. trade war has not yet settled. The Wuhan coronavirus has brought new uncertainties, which have adversely affected Huawei and all companies that rely on China’s smartphone supply chain.”
