Huawei Releases Half-Year Operating Results, Reports Steady Growth Rate as Usual
Huawei announced its operating results for the first half of 2018 on July 31. The world’s third largest smartphone maker reported the same growth rate as one year ago.

In the first half of this year, the company achieved sales revenue of 325.7 billion yuan ($48 billion), an increase of 15 percent from 283.1 billion yuan. Its operating profit margin also increased from 11 percent in the first half of 2017 to 14 percent in 2018.
Huawei’s revenue has maintained a growth rate of more than 10 percent for five consecutive years since 2013. The largest increase was in 2016 at 40 percent.
Huawei’s two smartphone brands, Huawei and Honor, sold 30.5 million units and 28.4 million units respectively in the first half of 2018. Both brands are among the top five choices for smartphones in the Chinese domestic market, according to the latest industry rankings.
Although it failed to penetrate the U.S. market, the Huawei P20 series has achieved good results in the overseas markets to become one of the most popular high-end smartphones. In the first six months of this year, the company has innovated in the areas of carriers, enterprise business, consumer services and cloud business, and each business segment has grown steadily.
Huawei also stressed the importance of Huawei Cloud, where the company is putting in more focus compared to the first half of 2017. Huawei Cloud is accelerating in cloud infrastructure innovations and is committed to providing customers with stable and secure cloud services.
