Huawei Releases P50 Series, First Smartphone with HarmonyOS
On Thursday night, Huawei’s P50 series was officially released. This is Huawei’s first smartphone that will be pre-installed with its home-built HarmonyOS.
Huawei announced that the P50 series is a 4G version because of the US restrictions on 5G technology.
The Huawei P50 employs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 4G chip, while the P50 Pro is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 4G chip and HiSilicon Kirin 9000 4G chip. The Snapdragon 888 4G version will be launched in September.
The Huawei P50 uses a 6.5-inch central single-hole straight screen that supports a 90Hz refresh rate, 300Hz touch sampling rate and the ability for 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. The device has a built-in 4100mAh battery and a 66W wired fast charging device, and weighs only 181g.
The new phone features a 50-megapixel main camera, a 13-megapixel wide-angle camera, and a 12-megapixel telephoto periscope camera. The camera has a 5x optical zoom and 80x digital zoom.
The Huawei P50 Pro also adopts a 6.5-inch central single-hole hyperboloid screen, supporting a 120Hz refresh rate, 300Hz touch sampling rate, and 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. The device has a built-in 4360mAh battery and supports both 66W wired and 50W wireless fast charging.
The phone also features a 50-megapixel main camera, 40 megapixel black and white main camera, a 13-megapixel wide-angle camera, and 64-megapixel telephoto supporting up to 200x zoom.
The phone will be available in five colors: Snow White, Obsidian Black, Dawn Pink, Ripple Cloud and Cocoa Tea Gold while its P50 counterpart has three colors: Snow White, Obsidian Black and Cocoa Tea Gold.
The 8GB + 128GB version of the Huawei P50 is priced at 4,488 yuan while the 8GB + 256GB version is priced at 4988 yuan. The Huawei P50 Pro is priced between 5988 yuan to 8488 yuan, which is in line with other device configurations.
Apart from the Huawei P50 series, the Huawei smart screen V75 Super is also catching the gaze of tech enthusiasts. The screen features HarmonyOS, Honghu SuperMiniLED backlight technology and a 20-unit audio system that was jointly designed with Devialet.

The new generation Huawei Sound X is the world’s first smart speaker equipped with HarmonyOS. With just one click, Huawei Sound X will be able to connect with other smartphones without network access, while also connecting with nearby PC computers, and setting up home theater systems with Huawei’s own Smart Screen.
