Huawei Unveils New Products: 2-in-1 Laptop, Lipstick-Shaped Headphones, Professional Running Watches

Chinese telecommunications and consumer electronics giant Huawei held a full-scenario smart life conference on Wednesday, during which it announced a slew of new devices. There’s the new smartwatch dubbed Huawei Watch GT Runner, Huawei FreeBuds Lipstick, the Windows 2-in-1 convertible MateBook E, the MateStation X desktop PC and VR Glass 6DoF glasses.

The so-called full-scenario smart life refers the core strategy “1 +8 + N” proposed by Huawei’s consumer business. Among them, “1” is smartphones, “8” is vehicle entertainment products, speakers, earphones, watches/bands, tablets, large screens, PCs and AR/VR, and “N” is IoT devices.

WATCH GT3 and WATCH GT Runner

At this conference, wearable sports products were one of the highlights, including the Huawei WATCH GT3 and Huawei WATCH GT Runner.

The Huawei WATCH GT3 supports heart rate monitoring, sleep monitoring and pressure monitoring. After upgrading, it can provide risk assessment of altitude sickness, and supports risk screening of atrial fibrillation and sleep apnea. The device sells from 1488 yuan ($233).

For users who have higher demand for running, Huawei has launched the Huawei WATCH GT Runner. There’s Huawei TruSeen 5.0 optical heart rate module, SpO2 measurements and activity tracking for over 100 sports modes. The smartwatch supports comprehensive evaluation of runners’ physical fitness and fatigue degree, and can help users adjust their training plan reasonably. It comes in grey and black and retails for 2,188 yuan.

According to the information released by Huawei, the firm’s sports health service has accumulated 320 million users, and the average monthly users of its sports health application in the world exceeds 83 million.

Huawei MateBook E

In addition to watches, Huawei has also launched its MateBook E, the all-new 2-in-1 tablet in Huawei’s ecosystem. Its first laptop equipped with a bundled smart magnetic keyboard attaches to a set of pogo pins on the bottom of the tablet. The MateBook E also supports pressure-sensitive input thanks to a second-gen Huawei M-Pencil accessory.

The new MateBook E can also be easily interconnected with many Huawei devices such as mobile phones, headphones, printers and monitors. It runs full-fledged Windows 11 and 12.6-inch OLED screens with a 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution, starting from 5999 yuan.

Huawei FreeBuds Lipstick

Huawei also released FreeBuds Lipstick, whose selling point lies in the design of the lipstick-shaped earphone box. With AI-adaptive audio technology, the earphones can intelligently optimize the sound quality according to the user’s wearing state at any time. The earphone also supports active noise reduction, with a price tag of 1699 yuan.

Huawei Collector’s Edition Mate X2 & MateStation X

At the press conference, Huawei also launched a folding screen smartphone starting from 18,999 yuan –  a Collector’s Edition Mate X2, which comes with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. There’s a Kirin 9000 5G chipset at the helm, so 5G connectivity is enabled. The software side is covered by HarmonyOS 2. Huawei said that as of the third quarter of this year, its folding screen smartphone shipments increased by 200% year-on-year, ranking first in China.

Huawei also unveiled an all-in-one desktop, the MateStation X, which offers a large 28.2-inch IPS LCD with 3840 x 2560 pixel resolution display.

VR

Huawei’s VR products have also made new progress with the HUAWEI VR Glass 6DoF. It’s a gaming VR headset with two dedicated controllers. The headset weighs in at 188 grams and has a 90-degree field of view. The game package covers a variety of smartphone VR games and thousands of PC VR games on the Steam platform.
